A study made by WCS of the potential impacts of oil and mineral mining on the Greater Virunga Landscape shows that there is nowhere in the landscape where mining can take place without affecting either a globally threatened species (on the IUCN Red List) or affecting a species only found in the Albertine Rift (endemic species).
